One By One Behavioral Health was founded on a simple belief: meaningful change happens one person at a time.

We believe every person matters. No one should feel forgotten, overlooked, or beyond help. When one person finds healing, growth, and hope, the impact can reach far beyond themselves, strengthening families and influencing future generations.

Owned and operated by husband-and-wife therapists Justin Makin, CMHC, and Jen Makin, CMHC, One By One Behavioral Health provides compassionate, evidence-based care that helps clients heal, grow, and move forward with confidence and hope.

JEN MAKIN, CMHC

MEET JEN

Jen was raised as an Army brat, living all over the world, and her rich life experiences led her into the field of mental health. For over a decade, she and her husband owned and operated residential treatment centers throughout Utah. With more than 25 years in the field, Jen is deeply passionate about her work.

As a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)  therapist, she specializes in skills and practical tools to treat mental health disorders. She has created many of her own skills, focusing on building emotional self-reliance in her clients. Stabilization is key, and she ensures a solid foundation before diving into deeper work.

Jen works with women facing high-conflict divorces, Narcissistic Abuse Syndrome, trauma, and symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder.  Compassionate in her boundaries, Jen helps clients navigate the challenges of chronic mental illness by teaching resilience and tools for healthier relationships.

MEET JUSTIN

Justin's path into counseling is rooted in a deep belief that people can change, heal, and build meaningful lives regardless of where their journey has taken them. Drawing from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care, Justin helps clients develop healthier coping skills, strengthen relationships, and build greater emotional resilience. His approach is straightforward, authentic, and grounded in the belief that lasting change occurs one step at a time.
